Jana Bauch is a photojournalist based near by Düsseldorf. In her personal work she loves to focus on documenting society and subcultures in their personal environment.

She gains to get intimate insights in the foreign world of her protagonists. It is her aim to create a tough and sensitive look at once, expressing being feminine.

She would describe herself being lost in a world in between the dream of circus life and dystopian desert. Walking through without shoes.

Movement and activism. Authenticity and the courage to experiment. Nature, width and freedom. Absurdity and irritation. Power and Chaos.

Currently she is doing her master degree in visual arts at University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. She works as a photojournalist for Rheinische Post. Her photography was published via Deutsche Presse Agentur in several media like New York Times, Stern, Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung, ZDF and Focus.

In 2021 she won the European Newspaper Award in Photography:Perspective.
